The Tariff and Classification Committee Of the State Council

The Tariff and Classification Committee of the State Council is a discussing and coordination institution under the State Council．Its major duties are：examining the plan of adjustments to tariff rates，annual provisional tariff rates，tariff quota rates，special duty rates and revision of tariff classification，approving the relevant State preferential tariff rates，discussing and reporting to the State Council the important Customs policy and the foreign Customs negotiation plan，proposing the principles and policy concerning the formulation and revision of the Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Import and Export Customs Duty，and examining the draft of the revision．

The chief of the Tariff and Classification Committee of the State Council is taken by the member of the State Council，and the deputy chiefs and members of the Committee are acted by the heads of Ministry of Finance，Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation，the State Commission for Development and Planning，the State Commission for Economy and Trade，the State General Administration of Customs，the State Administration of Taxation and the relevant ministries of the State Council．The office of the Committee is set up in the Ministry of Finance，and the chief of the office is taken by the head of the Tax and Tariff Department of the Ministry of Finance．
